MATES Cafe Facilitators:
Trained to be on call for someone in need, being a good MATE and helping them through a point of crisis in their life in a local cafe over a cuppa. Simply being there, really listening and helping them to find new direction and not about therapy, fixing or giving advice.
MATES Cafe Supports:
No matter who you are; adults, teens and elders of all gender, culture, ethnicity and personal beliefs. MATES are here to help you through the challenges and tough times; relationship breakdown, depression, anxiety, loss and grief, bullying, loneliness, isolation and other difficulties.

MATES Cafe is purely about saving lives. Do you realise that in 2017-2018 over 668 people in New Zealand chose to take their own life because they couldn't stand the emotional trauma they were undergoing. Many of these occurred because of relationship breakdown.
Over 16,280 New Zealanders have killed themselves since 1985!
One person has taken there own life on average every 18 hours over the last 33 years.(approx. 12,500 Men and 3,780 Women Suicides in same period) Age-standardised suicide death rate, 1996 - 2012 New Zealand
