A Brief History of MATES

The MATES Organisation was established in 2003. MATES is a Charitable Trust. Through a strength based initiative, MATES Programmes address many issues costing our communities dearly. The enormous social impact and emotional toll on families as well as the financial cost.

​​​MATES Cafe is a network of everyday people of all ages, cultures and ethnicity (including teens, elders and lgbt+) who are trained to meet with a person in crisis or isolation at a local cafe, and provide emotional support and encouragement.

MATES are lowering the rising rates of Suicide, Family Violence, Depression, Relationship Breakdowns, Health Challenges, Criminal Activity, Addictive and Dysfunctional Behavior, Stress, Violence, Low Self-Esteem, Lack of Direction and Focus.
